Tommy Carr
In the mid 70's, a young Tommy Carr and his brother began painting anything on wheels. Their quality work and competitive prices soon necessitated a move from the back yard into a commercial building. In 1981, Tommy's interest in rods & customs attracted local builders to come to his shop for custom painting, but insurance claims & commercial accounts continued to be the main source of income.
In 1998 Tommy & Debby moved to a riverfront site in Gold Hill. After expanding the shop to 4 bays & a pro-paint booth, he & his employees began concentrating on streetrod building, design, custom painting. Carr's soon became the place to see for custom body & interior mods, paint schemes, custom graphics, pearl-candy and even metal flake paint jobs.
One of his earliest accomplishments was 1920T "C" cab, full blown custom 1949 Ford P/U, then came Russ Dos's 1947 Chevy convertible, Clancy Johnson's 1926T tudor & 1933 Ford chopped stretched widened Limo,
Jim & Barbara Bieg's 1931A Roadster, Tommy's own personal much modified 1941 Ford P/U flat bed, Don Coghills multiple colored 1932 Ford 2 dr, Louis Peters champagne colored 1932 Dodge 5 passenger Vicky, Ron Smiths 36 Chevy,

Lately Carr's has turned out more notables such as Kent Bruce's 1937 Ford full custom 2 door, Harry Gate's 1932 Ford hi-boy roadster & Butch Steele's much modified 1934 Airflow Desoto sedan.
Tommy is also credited with the design and finish of the #9 rod in the US, Shawn Baldwin's 1932 Ford Phaeton, and his own 1933 Ford Vicky, was a constant winner from WA to CA.
All of Carr's cars receive the judges acclaim for the unique paint combinations, use of color and original graphics.
